ब्रह्मचारिणी माता मंत्र, आरती, कवच स्तोत्र - Brahmacharini Devi Mantra, Aarti, Kavach, Stotra Sanskrit Lyrics

Goddess Brahmacharini is the second form of Goddess Durga in Hinduism, a manifestation of Parvati who, in her previous incarnation as Sati, was born in the house of Prajapati Daksha. After Sati’s self-immolation, she was reborn as Parvati (daughter of the Himalayas). Following the guidance of sages like Narada, she underwent severe penance (tapasya), ascetic austerity, and spiritual discipline to win Lord Shiva as her consort. In this unmarried, ascetic aspect she is worshipped as Brahmacharini—‘one who walks the path of Brahma / absolute reality’ in penance, spiritual learning, and devotion.

Goddess Brahmacharini is usually shown walking barefoot (symbol of renunciation, humility, spiritual journey). She wears simple white garments (purity, simplicity, serenity). In her right hand she holds a Japamala (rosary or prayer beads), denoting repeated meditation, devotion, remembrance of the Divine; in her left hand she holds a Kamandalu (sacred water pot), symbolizing ascetic life, purity, austerity, the ability to surrender worldly attachments.

Worshipping Goddess Brahmacharini brings spiritual and worldly blessings. Devotees believe that her grace grants: - Inner peace (chitta shanti), spiritual growth, clarity of mind. - Strength to endure hardships, perseverance, discipline, willpower, patience. - Aid in studies / learning, success in examinations or creative endeavours due to enhanced focus and determination. - Relief from obstacles in life (especially when Mars-related malefic effects or Mangalik Dosha are believed to affect one’s horoscope). Her example of penance—renouncing comforts, living simply, meditating deeply—serves as inspiration. She survived on flowers, fruits, Bilva leaves, and later without food or water, performing rigorous austerity until Lord Shiva accepted her.

Goddess Brahmacharini is associated with Mars (Mangal), the planet of energy, courage, willpower and action. Worshipping her is believed to soften Mars’s aggressive or malefic tendencies—helping reduce Mangalik Dosha, bringing balance, strength, and positive fortune. For devotees whose Mars is weak or afflicted, worship of Brahmacharini during Navratri or through special pujas is considered especially helpful to strengthen resolve, calm impulses, improve discipline, protect from conflicts, and restore fortune.
